Make Eternal number one

#1 by sonoracer » Wed Jan 18, 2012 3:01 am

I love eternal wow but the current population during off peak times keeps me from playing here since so many peeps got ran off one tip to help with RECRUITING new members is clean up your homepage I've got to say my first impression of ya'lls home page was "spyware" the facebook bar advertisements all over the place on the vote page come on allot of peeps that come to private servers are straight off of retail the trash that exists on "http://eternal-wow.com" does not encourage private server noob's putting any personal info into that web-page. I understand that adds are a source of revenue but imagine the potential donations from the peeps the adds/clutter has turned away not to mention the first time you visit your prompted to vote for a page you've never heard of before then. First impressions mean allot when browsing the web and I want eternal to excel just a tip from a fan who wants to return.

In the future try using some punctuation...But I tell you eternal has a very small team of people running the server, compared to other top 10 private servers. The money from donations alone isnt enough to keep the server up ( hardware upgrades etc... and maybe some small pocket money for devs/gm's) so they need to have advertisements on the website. Im sure there are other expenses I havent mentioned , but you get my point no ads = little money to run the server = crap server.

Actually, every penny donated goes towards keeping the servers up and the website up. No staff pocket any money. Also, if you have ever looked at any other private server website, almost all of them have ads. It is just extra revenue for the server so we can keep the servers up and going. The reason why we aren't ranked number one is simply because people do not vote. Not because of how you think the homepage looks. There is not spyware on the front page, just because ads are there. If you think that then you should never use Facebook, or just about any website on the internet because you might get spyware from their websites because they have ads on there to get some revenue. As for the population, why don't you just play on peak hours? Seeing how every server has off peak hours that a majority of their players are not here, due to real life, even growing the population will not mean that there will be no off peak times. Sorry but I am not seeing the point in this post.

As eternal stands now off peak population drops as low as mid 300's on redemption. Which is usually the most populated realm. A few months ago it never went below 700. I was just saying when a realm as good as this one takes a hit like they did this is just a suggestion about stepping up their game. I just want to see more peeps on eternal wow excel its a high end server with a website that resembles basement run private servers.

Lol? How? Because we have ads to increase revenue to make Eternal-WoW better, so we have more money for the server upgrades we got a couple months ago? If you don't like it, leave. No one forces you to be here. Our website is ALOT easier to use and understand than all the other ones I have seen. If you want more population, word of mouth works great! But the website is not our issue for a slight decrease in YOUR peak hours of play time. Our website is great, and with all the work that has been put into it, and as a Forum Master, I can honestly say you have NO idea how to run a website, or make one or keep one up at all.

Let me simplify what I was saying even more your website MIGHT run away potential new members on there first visit. First impressions people. Imagine this you have never played on a private server before. You do a google search for wow private servers. You get to a page like xtreem100 that's covered in ads. You like eternal wow's description. You click the banner. First thing that happens when the site loads if you have something moving to the middle of the screen saying "VOTE NOW." Alright remember now you have never been on a private server before and you have no idea what the hell is going on. You close that because you just think its a pop up (again remember your new to private servers) you click on the connection guide to see what exactly you have to do to get started. The vote box pops up at you again. Do you see where I'm going with this. Then when you go to create your account adds are present on that page. I'm not a big fan of giving out any info even my e-mail address on a page I don't feel is secure. I'm not a private server noob I know how this works. But you might scare away little Ralphi with his Daddy's credit card. You say you have the best site of all the private servers its tempting to drop an M-bomb here. I was only giving a suggestion to try and bring your numbers up. Just forget I said anything. If your going to get angry at a suggestion srew it.

Not angry about a suggestion, I just don't understand your insane logic. Also, I never said we had "the best" I said and I quote "Our website is ALOT easier to use and understand than all the other ones I have seen." Not that it was "the best". If you think you can do better, apply for web dev position :D But population issues are not caused by, as you call it "website that resembles basement run private servers." Now if you want to contribute, to improve things, make suggestions that would actually help. You are WAY over thinking ads and such.

I must agree with Natax on the voting. Word of mouth is fine and dandy for some strays, but in order to be top dog, you really need an extreme amount of advertising (votes). Every so often when that little pop up asking to vote comes up; always when I'm in the middle of an agenda; I say Doh! But never once did I close it out without clicking Vote. It pops up a new window anyways so no harm or redirects. I ran a server for 7 years straight. It died out because no advertising and nobody wanted to vote. At those times it was single realms and hardware was pretty cheap to run those kinds of servers. There was no donations. But what went from a 100 capacity down to a trickle over the years was due being at the bottom of the list on the vote sites. And yes 100 was a lot back in the days of 1.6-1.8x for a private server.
