<Character Leveling 101>

#1 by phalanx13 » Thu Dec 16, 2010 5:41 pm

This is a blueprint for leveling your character in a few hours.
Please note that this is, again, a blueprint --- meaning I'm putting down what I remember before I completely forget about it, but I'll get more detailed later on once I follow the same progression with an alt and recheck over the net.
This will concern only HORDE (one early stage pertains to Blood Elves)- for now.

NOTE: ++ = means an approximate level. You don't need to be exactly level X to go to zone Y - but it does help if you're around that (ie. going to Feralas at level 43 or so).

don't forget to take flight paths every village/city you go to

Level 1-11:

- You automatically get to level 11 after finishing the introductory quest from an NPC named WINSTON (you'll have to click on each option/information from the Eternal-Wow npc). Upon completing it you gain a ton of exp, some gold, apprentice riding, and a friggin' broom FTW~

Level 11 to 25++:
- Ghostlands
-----Your focal point here is getting to Tranquilien, getting all the available quests there (and there are a lot at level 11). Some will take you to Silvermoon City, others will have you killing X number of undead in the Dead Scar, and, concerning Paladins, you'll also get a quest in the Silvermoon paladin building http://www.wowhead.com/quest=9678/the-first-trial, resurrecting a dead elf, or channeling some magic crystals.
-----You'll eventually get a quest to go to Farstrider Enclave, with an easy quest http://www.wowhead.com/quest=9161/the-traitors-shadow.
-----Lastly is going to the Sanctum of the Sun with several quests, most of which take you to Deathholme (southernmost area in Ghostlands), killing many mobs including Darkhan Drathir. Bring along some low level friends if you can.

Level 25 to 30++:
- Hillsbrad Foothills (go to Undercity, west then south to Silverpine Forest, southernmost end then east to Hillsbrad)
----- You should get to Tarren Mill and a lot of quests here will have you dealing with, well, yetis, getting someone a beer, killing farmers, some Wanted quests, and dealing with guardians in the Dalaran crater area - it's basically the junction wherein you'd be doing most of your quests in the zone.

Level 30++ to 40++:
- Arathi Highlands (from Hillsbrad head south east to get to Arathi, then waaay east to get to Hammerfall, the Horde encampment)
----- In Hammerfall basically a lot of kill a lot of stuff quests - ogres, trolls, raptors; there's also a small quest chain wherein you'd have to check out elemental crystals - all in all, you won't get lost running around.

NOTE:
This might be interesting but while helping a friend level (now that I have a level 80) - we DID NOT need to go to Arathi Highlands at all => if you're able to hit 40 just by questing in Hillsbrad (including some quests you might run into while going to your cities) - you can head directly to Feralas.

Level 40++ to 54:
- Feralas (get to Mulgore or Orgrimmar - there's a quest from npc Belgrom Rockmaul in Org http://www.wowhead.com/npc=4485/belgrom-rockmaul which would ask you to head to Feralas as well); head down south of the Barrens then you'll be at Thousand Needles, go down the great lift and head west, you'll be in Feralas).
----- Camp Mojache, what I really love about this zone, in any private server I've been in, is how easy it is to finish up quests here, as most of those you get when you first arrive are in close proximity to each other. Here you've got ogres, mining for cobalt, yetis, escorting a robot, killing evil tauren, kobolds, sprite darters, and so on. The ones that take you the farthest are a couple of quests for more yetis and some harpies.

Level 54 to 58:
- Azshara (take the back exit from Orgrimmar, follow the river north, you'll be able to go ashore on Ashenvale, head around then take the road east to Azshara)
----- In Valormok you'll get a quick quest to take some tablets in a high elf ruin; but the big win here is a quest to deliver those tablets to various npcs - you'll need to deliver them to someone in a mountain near the camp, then off to Orgrimmar, Thunder Bluff and Undercity. Once done, you need to come back to Valormok to turn in all 4 delivery quests - all for a lot of experience.

- Swamp of Sorrows (head to Orgrimmar, use the zeppelin outside the duel area to go to Stranglethorn Vale, Grom'gol Base Camp; head north to duskwood, then east to Deadwind Pass, and further east to the swamps; Stonard is roughly in the middle area of that zone)
(another method is going to Undercity Mage Quarter and using the portal to go to The Blasted Lands and north to Swamp of Sorrows)
----- Before you go to Stonard though, follow the road south until you're near the Blasted Lands - you'll find an npc Fallen Hero of the Horde http://www.wowhead.com/npc=7572 - listen to his story, then head to Stonard for the next part of the questchain. You'll eventually have to head to a cave to get an item from a mob there. Finishing this gets you to around 58 - qualifying for entry into...

For Alliance its very easy :
Also remember to get flight path too ^^
Note: These leveling path is tested using heirloom gear 3 piece head/ shoulder / and weapon
I leveled all my main and 5 alts this way and took me a 18 hour play time to level each of them.

Goldshire quests till 15 or 18 then head to Westfall and do some quest there and pick the delivery quests Defias Brotherhood you probly end up level 20ish or max 23.

Go to Ironforge then head to Loch Modan then to Wetlands if your bored or dont like Wetlands go to Darkshire instead
but I'll focus on Wetlands coz here is where I farm for my professions and while leveling . After some quests here go to Arathi Highlands there are only 3 or 4 quests for you here but if your lucky you bought the Heirloom gears you can get all the quest with ease.
after Arathi you might be at level 40 or 39 try one or two quest in southshore in Hillsbrand the quest your gonna take are killing some ogres in Alterac Valley so be careful in going the road coz of the Horde undead sentries there.

When your 41 or up you can use portal going to Tanaris (Zul farak) or like me who likes to get flight path I used a mount going to Darnassus to the Barrens then to Thousand Needles then voila Tanaris.
Side note : dont get any dungeon quest it will be harder for you if you did.

When your almost 49 or 50 time to head to Ungoro crater the first Tauren Npc ther will give you 2 quests just complete the chain quest then head to the Marshal refuge for some more quest. After doing Ungoro you will be probly 58 or if your lucky 60 its your choice if you wanna go to Silithus to level a bit more if your 58 or head out to Outlands.

You can use a portal next to the portal trainer in any Alliance city to get to the Dark Portal going outlands.
Nice tip: try to level your reputation while leveling in Hellfire example : Honor hold - coz if you buy the 300 flying skill here it might cost you less then buying it in Dalaran for 5k gold
If your level 64 or 65 go to Zangarmarsh and do some quest in the cenarion circle till you get to 68 or 69 finish the rest of your leveling either in Terrokar Forest or in Shadowmoon Valley .... I did shadowmoon, or go straight to Northrend.

Now for Northrend leveling I usually level in Borean but some say its boring "rofl".
try to hit 73 or 74 then get a boat going to Dragonblight there get some quest till 75 and get the chain quest for Argent Crusade.
Note : this is an important chain quest you will rep up argent crusade while doing these quest thus saving you time to grind reputation. Also this is a good way to get some good blue to purple reputation gear.

Evenetually you will end up in Zul 'Drak while doing the chain quests.
Note: Also as much as possible stay away from group quests but if your in a group its fine. Like the Ragemane quest.

Eventually your 77 now or 78 and have exalted in Argent Crusade. Next go to Stormpeaks via Crystal song Forest.
Careful thou you might get killed coz mobs at the forest tend to do massive damage to you :) .

At Stormpeaks you can go to K3 and do the quest chain for Sons of Hodir (even if its broken) just to level you till 80. The chain quest starts with .... "They took our men".
Important Note: Probably here you have at least 2k gold and can buy Cold weather so you can mount and do the chain quests. You can buy Cold weather at K3 there is a trainer there.
You wont be able to finish the chain quest and you are probably level 80 now gratz newbie 80 and enjoy doing dungeons for emblems.

Quick tip (almost forgot until someone asked now, hehe)..

Best leveling trinket for a caster?

http://www.wowhead.com/item=38765/rune-of-infinite-power

Available @ 25 vote points.
Quest reward; No level requirement. ;)

Combine that with 5 Heirloom items:
Dignified Headmaster's Charge (weapon)
Tattered Dreadmist Robe (chest)
Tattered Dreadmist Mantle (shoulders)
Dread Pirate Ring (finger)
Discerning Eye of the Beast (trinket)

- level up in a breeze

I almost forgot to include it, but hey...

(continued...)
OUTLAND

Upon hitting level 58, you may now go to Outland via the Dark Portal.
To make things easier on you - I suggest going to Undercity - Mage Quarter. There's a portal there that directs you to The Blasted Lands. Another thing you can do is go to a major city and select either:
- Shattrath (a long way to travel)
- Hellfire Citadel (die in some way, release, use the spirit healer).

You first need to take the quest from the Azeroth side of the Dark Portal, head through it, emerge in Outland, and follow the quest chain (from a flightmaster all the way to Thrallmar).

Level 58-70++
- Hellfire Peninsula
Thrallmar is your first stop. You'll be killing some fel orcs, going through a mine, bombing gateways, killing denizens of the Burning Legion. All in all, the quest hub has got some easy quests for you. Disregard anything concerning Hellfire Fortifications, or those that would have you go through the Hellfire Citadel dungeon.

Spinebreaker Post has a few more quests in store for you, namely those dealing with destroying a lot in Zeth'Gor, or ghosts in the spirit-filled former alliance outpost. You'll also end up collecting some easy to find (fast spawning herbs), and you'd manage to end up sooner to..

The Crashed Zeppelin which isn't a town in itself, but the two npcs here offer around 4-5 quests that are easy to finish - from collecting zeppelin parts, to getting hellboar and buzzard meat, and ravager eggs; as well as taking care of nearby voidwalkers.

Falcon Watch offers more quests - an easy one having you go south to a Kaliri den (birdmen) and just right clicking on a specific npc (hatchling). Others take you to the Fissure nearby to kill a number of mobs, plus an elite, the Pools of Aggonar (some Thrallmar quests are done here as well), and to the ruins to the east.

Cenarion Post is your last stop - situated just a bit north of the Ruins of Shanar. You'll end up killing hellboars, again, and two massive exp but (hard to finish unless you got buddies with you) quests dealing with colossus and an elite one in the end.

BOTTOM LINE => By the time you've done majority of the quests outlined here, you'll hit 68-70 which means it's off to the northern continent...

Don't mind the necro but I haven't leveled a new character in a long while.

Does this guide still work out well for Redemption levelers?

Please reply if you've tried it out recently.

I see. I don't have an active alliance character but hey, if you confirm that it's still viable to try out that route listed here, then it's fine.

Anyone from Horde thinks this still works out well?

Personally, after 76 I like to go to Sholozar Basin and just stay there until 80. There's a ton of easy quests there (such as killing tigers, giraffes, alligators, finding stuff, etc) that will easily get you to 80.
