Announcements from the staff

From Eternal With Love

#1 by GregariousJB » Sat Oct 23, 2010 5:37 am

There have been numerous suggestions regarding a better system of reporting updates to our players, and we are happy to oblige.

Effective immediately, there will now be weekly updates every Wednesday that will contain some of the heavier updates - core and database - that will improve on your quality of in-game life (quests, instances, etc). Because core updates usually require some testing, the extra few days will give us some time to untie the leashes from our Beta Testers and let them them do what they do best. The servers may need to be restarted (for only a few minutes) during this time. If the servers need to come down longer, we'll let you know here on the front page.

Furthermore, there will also be unannounced database updates for issues that I consider to be more urgent (items, NPCs, etc). These updates will happen immediately and without notice, but are very focused and effective. In most cases this type of update will not need a server restart, but we'll give you a 5-minute warning if it can't wait.

The best part is, we now have a Changelog in our forums, which keeps you up-to-date with all the cool changes we're making. You can also get email updates of these changes by clicking on the small Subscribe Forum link at the bottom.

Here are a few teasers: On our update Wednesday, ICC will have 10 out of 12 bosses available to fight - including the Lich King! Our next big push is going to be for Ulduar. Plus, we have plans in the making for a handful of custom goodies: PvP events, a maze event, our own custom instance, Robot Wars, Attack of the Gnomes, and even a marriage event for players who want to get hitched in-game are all on the big list.

A question for the masses: Would you prefer to have a boss fight (along with loot) available even if it can't be scripted, or should we remove a boss if the encounter is only a 'tank n' spank'? Post your answers in the comments!

Fix Marrowgar, I know you guys updated ICC and all and its great but his blue flames are bugged now. I've seen Morrawgar's flames on Blizzard servers and no way they are like the way it is on here. He breathes it everywhere multiple times with multiple stacks of the AOE so it is impossible to get away.

I like the updates being announced every Wednesday and I i think I prefer a boss that is scripted over "tank n Spank". Can't have it to easy because that just takes the fun out of it.

well i prefer scripted bosses too but if its no boss or " tank´n´spank" boss i prefer tank´n´spank. In my opinion halloween event was pure crap custom should be kept on instant server pvp server or somewhere else than blizzlike .
the trinket for pve sucked way too many hitrating and no specific uses for classes. well to get to the point : "tank´n´spank" better than no boss ; no custom gear ; would prefer updates at wednesday

A boss with loot even if its not scripted is better than no boss at all!

Love the weekly updates and your custom instance hint...

Deffinetly tank'n'spank is better then nothing or too OP bosses like marrowgar in ICC now. And custom events, maizes etc etc events are all good but dont import custom instances and custom gears (by custom gears im according to better pvp gear then s8 and better pve gear then t10.5). Let the endgame contain still be ICC and pvp s8 sets. Nerf ICC bosses - marrowgar, lana'thel and fester/rotface coz they are really way too OP especially on hardmodes. Those things i belive would make us all be happy (Im talking for almost all my guildmates 150+, and most of the people on world).

Keep up the good work, keep tank'n'spank bosses and nerf icc  ,Regards Radoslaw.
Ashanson the Kingslayer - FFB Mage (6.5k)
Paccifist the Kingslayer - Fury Warr (6.7k)

Mooke the Kingslayer - Resto Dru (6.4k)
Elder Criya - Retri Pala (5.9k)

I agree with the people saying that the custom stuff should be kept off of Redemption. Or if you want to have it, keep end-game still blizz like and stuff. The only reason I like the halloween event is because of the gold and the honor, but it's actually not that fun.

I'll also say that you might as well keep them there as tank and spank rather than removing completely.

Thanks for the awesome server :)

Unleash us!

Definitely some exciting things in the works, and I'm thrilled to be a part of the process!

Also, for anyone wondering, you can put in an application for a leash on the account tab, just click "Apply to be Staff!" and choose Beta Tester.

Thank you for the update.

I appreciate your taking your time to inform the community on what progress you have been making on the server.

In regards to tank and spank, i dont mind terribly if a boss is spawned and not scripted FULLY - i mean the boss has to do some kind of move or have some kind of ability to at the very least make it challenging.

other than that, i do have a problem with custom instances on redemption - mainly to me that implies custom loot. having custom loot means youd probably remove other gear. and i dont want to see that happening. i know this is nothing like a retail server, but at the very least fix and script every instance to the best of your ability before implementing a custom instance of any kind. the halloween event was okay in my opinion, just lack of interest for me overall for the hardcore grindy stuff for those trinkets. keep it simple and keep the rewards simple too. the silly hats and pets are enough for me - collectibles. no event item should be replacing anyones raiding gear imo.

the other events, such as maze events and what not are a good idea. "find the gm" events with hints are always fun too. try and see if you can give away custom titles or pets that you cant normally get on private servers, like murlocs and mini diablos and stuff.

tank n spank = boring but at least something
nothing at all = nothing at all

boring but at least something > nothing at all
That does not apply to LK of course, for slaying him realm first is the biggest thing for a server and we don't want it to belong to someone who don't deserver it, do we?

i rest my case

I would say keep some of the "tank'n spanks" but perhaps not all of them. While they are good for warming up and teaching new players they can also get very repetitive with a more experienced group.

Agreed. Because Redemption is made to be more Blizzlike, the bosses will likely drop normal raid loot as opposed to custom loot. Custom instances with custom items are for Funservers.

And being Blizz-like I suggest re-adding everything that was removed that you could have originally gotten on retail. Otherwise theres no point, as you can't get the "full" experience, and we will just be stuck at some stage being unable to progress at all.

I too would prefer tank and spank instead of no boss at all, i personaly haven't payed any attention to the custom event, a guide for whats available in a event would be nice. A custom instance sounds cool but unless it fit into the games story somehow, prolly shouldn't be on redemption, but mostly keep up the good work

i think that this server has alot too it and is one of the best BUT since the icc update people are running.
alot of people are here to raid and raiding should never end :D
so A boss with loot even if its not scripted is better than no boss at all
custom events should have rewards for them but not gear maby badges or something of the like.
but what am trying to say is fix what need be fixed first then move on to the fun stuff it makes eternal staff look like they dont care about icc uldur toc ect... people have got to the stage where there is nothing they need unless they do icc uldur toc ect...

This is mainly with regards to the server restarts that happen fro time to time for any reason.. The reason is not really a problem but what is kinda irksome sometimes is when you're doing something important (could be anything) and you get dc coz of a restart all of a sudden. That's NOT the way it should be...

Could the admins GMs kinda inform as a world announcement or maybe you could implement a timer like there usually is before a restart to let users know how much time they have to wrap up and logout... That would be helpful and very useful. Thanks..
