3.3.5a(12340) PTR Realm: NOW LIVE!
For those of you wondering about the state of Lord Marrowgar and the crash issues, we have been working diligently to remedy this. The latest core updates utterly destroyed some of our custom patches, so we couldn't update the realms until they were fixed. Fortunately, they are now. Furthermore, our plan has advanced into something our players will appreciate and our staff will find far more advantageous: a Public Test Realm (PTR).

The PTR will allow players to hop in, grab full Wrathful or Tier 10, jump into raids, and test the hell out of everything before an update goes live. This will have a number of big benefits. For example, the random issues that get missed by 20 people will likely get found by 200+. The PTR realm will likely be up for 1-2 days while the update is tested, and we'll check on the tickets made by players in that realm to verify potentially problematic issues before they go live.

Note: It is likely you will be able to use your characters from the Redemption realm, but because this is for testing purposes only, nothing will carry back over to Redemption when the update launches.

YouTube Contests
We're planning a few ways to get our community involved with their favorite private server, and one of them is a YouTube video contest. Players will be able to film and edit gameplay videos, then submit them to a contest. More on this soon!

... you don't quite understand what a PTR is, do you? It will be a temporarily accessible realm with gearing available to enable access to all players to test out the patched content before they actually patch it into the live server that we play on. It doesn't ever stop being a PTR, it will never be a live server. They will just use it as a PTR each time before rolling out new patches to the live servers we play on.

In the cata server you will be instant 85 because there is no quests, pve or pvp you can only look the view ...

OK, i'm not wanting to sound like a broken record here...but i'm having some issues understanding a thing or two.

If and when the time comes for the PTR to update to the real thing happens and it becomes working and playable, will we donors be able to transfer our existing characters to the playable cata server, not the test server.....with gear and items and all that jazz the way it sits on Redemption? I can understand not being able to go backwards and put cata onto redemption. But incorporating Redemptions accounts and item databases to the new cataclysm server....is that going to be possible? Or are we just expected to start from scratch all over again? A lot of people are going to be expecting a working Cataclysm server to be an extension of redemption and their current characters. Will we atleast be able to pay to have the account imported to the new Cata realm once its updated, AND keep all of our gear and talents etc? I could use some definite clarification and I think a lot of others could too on this matter.

That's a reasonable question, but I'm afraid my answer will do little to sate your inquisition. Though it is possible Wrath characters will update to Cataclysm (as a copy - while keeping the existing Wrath characters), there are far too many changes to the database and core between the two expansions to make it probable. It is more likely that players will start over at level 1 on a "real" Cataclysm realm if we're able to release one 3-6 months from now, and that's being optimistic.

Thanks for being honest with us. Infact it will be way more chalenging to start from the very begin. Also since i already got some retail xp with cata i will use the topic to share some ideas
1. First month there shouldnt be any donor rewards.
2. Cataclysm is devided in few aspects combined, so people need to progress true quests - pvp-inctance - heroic instanqse - raid. Here we can conclude that: u can realise realm as soon as you can provide working spells, talents,quert lines then focus on 5 mans and arena and bg. Proffesions really viable too. That also means it wont do any good here if u restrict non donors to get any item t11 s9 or offset. Give it a tought.

i think they should give you guys some points to respend, cos transfering all the gear is just pointless, been checking wowhead and it seems that lvl 81 blues are better than what you get in icc today
