Update 2: After deliberation and seeing a number of issues with things missing from spells and inventory in game, we've decided we will be rolling back to last night's backup (16 hours ago) on Eternal, Remorse, and Redemption. *However*, we will be keeping all items current. This means any items you've earned since the backup, you'll still have, so this will greatly reduce the impact of the rollback. This is taking place shortly.
We were just hacked by a team using an exploit that they used on several other servers (as we just discovered). They are attempting to hold us for ransom, but we have closed the exploit already.

The realms will be back up within 30 minutes. Spells, talents, and professions will be rolled back to last night's backup, but everything else will be current. If there is anything else we discover, I'll update this post.

The extent of the damage is about 100 player accounts which need to be manually restored. 99.9% of players are completely unaffected. The best thing you can do right now if your account/character has problems is to avoid using it and avoid spending VIP/Vote/Honor/AP, etc. as this will eventually potentially damage your character more. There were also a couple of guilds deleted, and we will be restoring these as well, so don't bother remaking them yet as it'll cause issues.

To repeat, most accounts are completely unaffected, so this message is to the 100 or so players who are. We hope to have these characters restored within the next 3 hours. We are lucky that we have such a meticulous recovery plan that the damage control is so small on this issue. Many servers could have ceased to have existed today in this situation, but here it will be forgotten within a day or two.

If you have any issues that are not resolved with the above statements, please post here *AFTER* we finish resolutions: staff-general/issues-after-the-hack-t52646.html . Please do not post things we've already addressed or legitimate concerns will be lost in the mess.

why the rollback need be general, some accs wasnt afected or touched, if u do a big rollback, talking about more than 4 - 6 hours (not sure) a lot of people will be afected.

Theres a way to make only rollback for the afected accs?

On my rogue i shoved all my gear into the bank, test relogged 8times and still had it, talents and spells and shit were gone, but i kept my gear nice and safe.

We need to show proof eh? depending on what db you have, there should be a table that shows who donated for what, how much, when, and when it was completed. This is a server side issue and for everyone to be punished like this is in my opinion, just sad. Really, only 100 poeple affected yet youre going to make it this difficult for ALL your donators? -.- Hell, we even have the account control panel to show that we got the items.. seems like alone wont be enough of a proof for you. So, really, what is hard-coreproof that you need or want now? We sure as hell dont have fraps to record all our transactions.
