Announcements from the staff

Hackers are such a pain. Yay for pain killers.

#1 by HeXagon » Thu Aug 18, 2011 12:15 pm

Usually hackers are just a nuisance. Recently we had a couple hackers who exploited a bug in the core of our servers that would cause completely unplayable lag.

I am glad to announce the hackers causing this lag are gone and we have patched the core to make sure they can never exploit the issue again.

We will not be releasing details of the hack for security purposes.

The aforementioned hackers:
bucketmaster
grodantest

Props to HeXagon (myself), Cyph3r, and Devo on tracking down the exact exploit.

It is actually to your benefit that I released this to public. All random servers will lagg (people can't resist to try stuff like this) for next week or so before trinity even starts to think about pushing fix to their repo so they all can get fixed.

I got ur back homie ;)

If it's the same bug that I though. Geez. Poor hackers watching YT videos how to lag the server. If it's the same the spammer of that macro also lags as hell and can't play. I saw few people doing it before but I couldn't prove it (screen shots of lagging peeps  ) - probably video but my pc can't handle so much damage in the summer at 34C.

Silly kids. All you are doing is making us look good. The fix I put in is temporary. We take it to the next level by being able to find and fix stuff nobody else can.
