Our DDoS protection has just proven its self once more. If you were on the site about 20 minutes ago, you may have gotten a 502 error saying 'Bad Gateway'. This was caused by our DDoS appliance mitigating an attack. The average response time for a DDoS appliance is about 2 - 3 minutes.

If you are curious as to what our DDoS appliance is capable of, an attack with 4,402 unique hosts was just stopped.

The signature of the DDoS was a HTTP POST made to http://eternal-wow.com/ with a content size of 43574 bytes. The referral was set to a random site, mostly Russian.

The attack started at 06/Feb/2011:23:43:31 -0600 and is mostly mitigated, a few requests are slipping through here and there, but no problems are arising because of them.

I was debugging an intermittent session problem. Completely normal. I have taken the site out of debug mode.

We do have this ability, but it is possible some of the same computers that were used in the attack are simply zombies that are compromised and are not leading the attack.

I completely understand however there may be a way to use this information to track down people/where attacks are originating from.

You could warn the users that cross checked and either ban those accounts (upon further review) and/or use them to see if they visited other sites recently. More than likely as we all know it was another WOW site so they could have easily populated through their webpage and or have moles here etc.

IDK it seems like there is a ton you could do with that information instead of just showing us what the protection cleaned up is all.

When are mage's expected to be fixed? I've got over $1000 bucks in my hand and wanna spend. So far I'm just a bitch kill to everyone I encounter. I fear not anytime soon, which leaves me to re-donate on redemption. which is a lot less money than I would have spent on Remorse because I'm also buying for my wife's toon. I'm just losing my desire to play here and am scared a full set of PVP gear will make 0 difference shy of some HP. As it is, rogues and every melee break right out of the things that made mage's able to stop contact. Another thing....why doesn't molten armor do more than 237 critical damage like a regular level 80 server? Any information on the things stated here would be much appreciated.

You're a dumbass, instead of making assumptions maybe find stuff out for yourself..... That's what I did... I would give specifics, but I don't think they'd appreciate that.

They do have DDOS protection, and all the game servers are using a VPN...... Not giving specifics, figure it out urself. Both the DDOS protection and VPN are services they have to pay for...... Now plz shoosh.

/e but since all the game servers are behind a VPN, there's no way to tell if they are on seperate box's, unless u gain access to the VPN's gateway or the VPN server the game servers are connected to.....Something I'm not willing to do.... Although i've talked to a few higher ups about this and i'm pretty sure they are all on seperate box's....

This was last time i checked though, which was a while ago.... Haven't bothered to since, I trust them. Majority of eternals wow staff, are very nice/honest and cool to talk with. Ofcourse you do have ur fails, just like anything in life... but hey.... it happens...
