The Goal: Design a video to be uploaded on youtube that sells our Ruin Cataclysm realm at Eternal-WoW to the masses.
The Reward: Significant VIP Points. (exact amount will be updated shortly). 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place will be rewarded.
The Deadline: May 31st, you may post the links to your video as a comment to this post.

How the winner will be selected: The administrators will review all the submissions at the close of the contest and evaluate each video on the following categories:
1. Overall quality of story or presentation.
2. Flow/Transitions between scenes.
3. Video quality.
4. Music (How well the song fits into each part of the video) .
5. Originality (Impress us with some creative ideas and scenes people).

In my mind there are two kinds of videos: story based and feature based. In the past, many videos have focused entirely on discussing the features of our realms (feature based). In this contest, both are accepted, but we will prefer story based. Consider it to be like the short trailer for a movie that is coming out that tells some intense, epic story of love, war, or the like. However, please do as you wish and only take these comments as hints, as what matters is the overall quality of the video and no two are ever alike.

On this note, if you do indeed choose feature based, it is recommended to outline the brand new features in cataclysm that are present and working on the realm: new areas, content, races, gear, bg's, etc.

Tips and Basic facts that should be illustrated in the video:

• Keywords: Make sure Eternal-WoW is in the title of the video along with the keywords "Cataclysm wow private server" and in your title and detail, and include a link to http://www.eternal-wow.com in the description along with "set realmlist logon.eternal-wow.com".
• Go HD: Make it in HD, 720p+. Avoid bars on sides or top/bottom, if possible.
• Keep it short and sweet: 2-5 minutes long should be a good time anything longer is unnecessary.
• Good editing: More than 2-4 seconds of the same scene on a video is like an eternity, keep each scene or shot short to make a better quality video. HINT: We are impressed by quality editing!
• Sync to music: Include music that follows with the tempo and theme of the scene playing in the video. HINT: We are impressed with good syncronization of editing and music!
• Show working features of the realm/core: Battlegrounds, spells, talents, instances etc., particularly if you choose to go "feature based" on your video. You could organize different scenes with a group of friends to show some epic PVP! If you go "story based", you can avoid features if it impedes the story.
• Summary:I said this before, but I'll say it again the difference between a good video and a bad video are the ones that keep scenes short, clean, intense, and to the point. Videos that just show a straight minute of PVP, or Battlegrounds just end up being complete fail.

Please don't trash each others videos in the comments as the real goal here is to increase player count through video advertising.

Youtube account request :
On a side note we are requesting anyone out there who has a highly subscribed youtube account/channel to download all of Eternal-WoW's videos on youtube (there are many) and reupload to their account. This is for safe keeping since videos tend to disappear over time. If you are willing to upload the video on your account please leave a comment stating how many subscribers/views you have on your youtube account. Feel free to do this on your own, but if you intend to seriously reupload all of our library of videos, send me a private PM and we'll reward your efforts on completion.

It doesn't matter actually. I assume only people who play will enter the contest, but those who play other realms instead are welcome to create a character, get footage, and submit. Good luck making an interesting video with a level 1, though

How can we advertise a realm that needs so much work to be done still? Are we advertising the classes and talents and quests that DON'T work? I would suggest you postpone this contest a few weeks (months maybe) until the server is a lot less buggy than it is now then you can get some truly epic videos and attract a more permanent player base.

I trully like this server, but is not in time to do this. Seriously.

sadley i have to agree with everyone... ruin isnt up for mass advertisement YET
having a youtube fan blowout to attract more people... will work BUT like has been said anyone who sees it is probably playing on a server already (like blizz or a competitor) and will see the lagg see the glitches and everything else not quite up to par go back to the video's and comment "the server is crap" scaring off everyone else who see's it and was iffy about trying it. i know that you need to get more people on ruin but a better way would be to have a system for switching expansions like "uberwow" had that way people can loggin to the expansion set that they want be it origional wow crusade litchking or cata. this way also would fit with the "eternal" in eternal wow much more people would join. and with that many more people would be more donations. we have 5 realms if you made two relams for each expansion pvp and pve would be 8 realms. pvp being high exp lvling with (like on cata) full flight paths plus an option for instant lvl.
the pve would be simple 10-15x exp same kinda stuff as redemption i dont know anything about crusade or wow1.0
but i would think having less in it would make it a tiny eensy bit easier than making a cata realm was. pluse of course there are many people out there that would like to start from the begginning (me being one of them).
i probably said too much but hey i just put it all together

nah nickotino, you should definitely do it! just copy your cata folder and upgrade. a storyline doesn't require knowledge of cata specifically.

By the time the realm is a lot less 'buggy', the players will have chosen their cata private server. This is a month out for *beginning* and longer for actual effect, so probably 45 days+ from now. By then the entire core/realm will have gone massive changes and 1000's of bugs fixed. So as a matter of planning, it makes sense to do videos now.

If the realm changes so much that videos are invalidated, we'll just have another contest.

By the way, I think you exaggerate the bugs. The realm is very playable considering its alpha/beta nature and how soon it's out in the emu development process.

Sure the DMG aint HUGE but its something if you know how to sync/ make it flow with the video

I'd Suggest to fix the Worgen Startzone like thats sth no server has and eternal will be one step forword from other servers ^^. If i make a vid about (If First ^^ ) lots of players would come cuz all them just love worgen im just saying . ^.^ Have Fun !!
