There have been a lot of misunderstandings that deal with the basic game-play of the realms so I wanted to do a breakdown of what each realm is about.


Eternal Instant 80 Pure PvP
All 71+ instances are closed, and you start off at level 80 with starter gear available. The goal of this realm is to do arenas and battlegrounds to get gear upgrades. Cross-faction city attacks are also encouraged. If you are tired of leveling and want to get right into PVP play here.

Redemption 10x rate PvE
Here, PvE is the main focus. Level yourself up with a 10X rate and run instances/raids for upgrades. PvP is ok, (if people want it they can /pvp on) but not the primary focus. All instances and raids are open. If you do not want to engage in PvP play here.

Exile 30x rate World PvPvE
With custom-made killable cities for both factions, the main goal of this server is world PvP. Players are encouraged to take over these cites to stop the opposite faction from upgrading their gear. Custom-made kill credits are given for each enemy player you kill, which can then be used to purchase gear and other special items. All PvP and PvE gameplay is open and available. If you like world PVP or PvE, this realm is for you.

Remorse Level 255 Godlike PvPvE
This is a custom server where you level to 255, get all three talent trees, and godlike gear. This server includes world PVP, battlegrounds/arenas, and custom made instances and quest chains. All types of PVP are encouraged and ok to engage in. If you want a custom experience having millions of HP, doing millions of damage, and engaging in PVP, play here.

Ruin 15x rate PvPvE
An Alpha realm where players can see and assist us in developing a playable Cataclysm server. This is a PVP enabled (and encouraged) 15X rate leveling server. In order to have enough content for players to stay busy we have all aspects of the game enabled. Once enough content is working we will be adding additional realms. As an Alpha realm, expect bugs but have fun seeing what we are doing to improve the server!


I hope this clears up some misconceptions, and helps people decide which realm to choose. If you play on a PVP server expect to be killed at any time or at any level. If you play on the PVE server do not expect a lot of PVP!

Except for the fact that no where near all the instances or raids are open on redemption, quite a few are locked for unknown reasons.

I would love to play on Exile but the population is simply too low, I've never seen more than 120 online with both sides combined

If no one joins cause it's low populated, it will never be high populated.

So Matt, what will happen to Ruin once it is a "working" server? What happens to all that the players have achieved and donated into? Will you wipe it or keep open for just PvE or PvP?

Might help some of us to now the rough plans for it so we know how much resources to invest into it.

Ruin will stay up and just get better and better, we will just be opening new types of realms not closing Ruin.

Darn, I was hoping it would go PvE It is hard to level when you have characters 30+ levels above you ganking you as you level up.

Why couldnt you enable PvE content on Eternal? Because if you dont want to play PvP at the moment you could do instances instead of having to change to Redemption and level your character. I would also appreciate an instant 80 PvE server cause i really dont like leveling as its quite boring.. espacially on a private server

i think they did that so there is less strain on the server. having lots of people PvPing AND PvEing might cause some lag/delay

Yes, because taking the whole 2 days to level on a 10x server with heirlooms is far to much to ask.....did you catch the sarcasm there?

Leveling is part of the game and on a 10x server if you know how to play its very fast. I hate instant 80 servers because you end up with to many morons with no idea how to play a class running around with high end gear and getting owned, then screaming about how "insert class/player here" is "OP/a hacker". At least if you make them level they might learn something, not likely, but its a possibility.

well i played on retail for 2 years and know how to play so i dont need lvling. i didnt like it on retail neither and thats why i look for instant 80. why should i spend 2 days for boring lvling if i could start to improve my gear in this time. i know nobody forces me to play on a lvl server but its quite hard to find a nice pve realm with big community and without trashy custom items. but i see.. the staff wanted to seperate pve and pvp so my question doesnt care anyone probably

Donate instant 80 on redemption? I did this for my second redemption toon. But now I would recommend spending the money on minecraft. Private servers ruined wow for me
