actually so true... think on it this server is ran using open source software they took without donating anything...
based off a mmorpg they did not pay rights to ... aka illegal server.

and than they charge outrageous prices so they can make a buck off doing no work at all...

see EVERYONE is selfish
specially that damn mangos team that created the software this server uses... right?

To be perfectly philosophical sir, you're applying his statement that was left here with the intent of money, while it had the intent of involving everything.

The mangos team created the core because they enjoyed doing what they do - they didn't do it for you, me, or any one else. You're replying this here to satisfy yourself - may it be to just kill time or to simply leash out with your general anger against authorities.

I know for certain I'm here for my own sake - I don't help you because you need help, but because I end up feeling rewarded by it.

When considered through this manner, then yes, everyone is inherently selfish.

What a insult to the mango team... :liar:

If they didn't do it for anyone else they would not release the source code and all code to be used.

Do you not think it costs money to host the website and svn for mangos source code?
How about the real professional work done by them?

I would love to see a donation made by eternal to them.... but it won't happen... :snooty:

Do you not find it ironic that this server is using code they didn't dontate to ...?
Or that they didn't donate for using up the svn bandwidth to download it?

I still just find it ironic that if Eternal was really up just for "the players" or even for a idea of "for the players" they would make the whole purpose of the game in this state (pvp) unbalanced unless you pay them 100$....

If this server actually had developers and did make changes to the "core" sure I could see donations more...

but a couple database modifications mey...

Well, you didn't quite get me there. They didn't do the code to strictly be used by themselves, but for themselves.

They have a huge reputation here on the private server scene. They worked with a team they liked, they got signs - like your own sign of appreciation here - that made them feel rewarded for their work. And that was their reason to do it - that feeling of satisfaction.

Eternal doesn't exist for the players only, it's origins is such that the owners brought it up for their own sake - a fun project, no ambition or plans.

Let me explain it like this: you decide to sacrifice everything you own for a child in Africa that you have never met or ever will meet. If you ever did this, it wouldn't be for the childs sake, it would be for your own - that immense satisfaction you gain from helping another person. And that was my true point.

Compared to other servers we retain a pretty balanced play field. You have to realize we have donations because the server costs money running.

I hold no ill-intent and neither should you. The mangos team didn't require any donations coming their way and neither do we. Donations are optional and at your own discresion.

PS:
We run on Trinity, not Mangos.

Ok, I saw someone make a post about it earlier, but the issue was not addressed. If I reffered someone by word of mouth (ie not online but in person) is there any way I can take credit for that referra? I'd really like to know since he has already donated over $250 to the server and that 25 donor points would make a massive impact on me character. Perhaps an e-mail message could be sent to his e-mail and if he confirms, give me the points? :D I realize this is very self serving of me, but I cant afford to donate any more at this time, so the idea of extra donation points is extremely appealing. Thanks in advance for responses.

Not possible. The referral program suggests you're convincing a friend, and friends help eachother (even scamming).

I do not imply you are trying to scam or anything but simply that this kind of situation would be prone to involve lots of scam attempts and we have no way of keeping track of who is truthful and who isn't.

Sorry for the inconvenience.

Regards,
Ryuudan
