Referral Program

#1 by HeXagon » Sun Sep 19, 2010 12:21 pm

Got friends who are interested in WoW?
Want to earn vote AND donate points?

Starting today, as of this minute, our referral program is now LIVE! When you refer a friend, and they spend vote or donate points you get points!

Our referral system is up to a 5 tier system. This means that when you invite someone, they can invite people, who invite people, who invite people, that can keep earning YOU points, up to 5 levels of referral registrations.

  1. 10% - If they spend 100 points, you get 10 points
  2. 7% - If they spend 100 points, you get 7 points
  3. 4% - If they spend 100 points, you get 4 points
  4. 2% - If they spend 100 points, you get 2 points
  5. 1% - If they spend 100 points, you get 1 points

Q: Where do I get my referral link?
A: Your referral link is available on your Account Control Panel.

Q: How do I know how much I earn?
A: There are running totals on your Account Control Panel.

Q: When do I get my referral rewards?
A: When the person you refer spends the donation or vote points on an item.

Q: Is there a maximum number of points I can get?
A: No! We want people to be able to earn as many points as they can!

Q: Do I have to donate anything to be able to receive donation referral points?
A: No! You can refer people who DO donate. When they spend the donation points, you get the referral rewards!

Q: Where should I put the referral link?
A: Anywhere you want! Suggestions are over instant messenger to your friends, text message to friends, and on gaming related forums and blogs.

See, it was bad, but acceptable when you see someone running around with a shadowmourne, because they were helping keep the server running. This however.... This is going to encourage people to spoof accounts to vote daily, and then all for what? So that they can spend the voter points on BS stuff to send to the main account. Also, this means that I'm having to deal with people who use shadowmourne in BG's who didn't even help keep the server going.

Donor geared BG players are bad because it doesn't make the game competitive anymore when there are like 5 of them, but I can handle those as long as they're helping keep the server free... But really... increase the number of donor geared people?

Yes, people will spoof accounts, are the ones who do it obvious? Yes. Will they get caught, probably. We aren't a bunch of amateurs running this server. I have algorithms that can check for accounts that don't play on the server and are used as dummy accounts.

This gives people who don't have the means to donate a chance to benefit from the donations that their friends or referrals make. And it does help keep the server stay free, referrals and word of mouth is a HUGE advertising medium. If you refer people who donate, you are indirectly helping us keep the server free. Wouldn't you want to benefit from that?

The bottom line of this whole system is to give everyone a chance to directly and indirectly help the server, and benefit from the help they bring to us.

Ok, perhaps I was misunderstanding this a bit. Say I refer a friend, and they spend 100 vote points, do I get 10 vote points or donation points? My understanding is that points they spend give me donation points... Perhaps I misunderstood?

If they spend 100 vote points you get 10 vote points, if they donate $100 you get 10 donate points.

So if they spend 100 vote points, we STILL don't get any donation points? I thought that was the point of this...I can get lousy vote points all the time already.

Of course you don't get free donation points. You get points equivalent to the type of point expended/earned. Common sense should tell you you're not going to get free donation points from voting.

The point of this is for you to get MORE vote points or donation points than you would on your own.

We are all part of a wonderful community that is built around the point of giving the community free entertainment. However, the reality is that nothing is really free and donors pay for the expenses necessary to give the greater community this free service. We ask small favors of the community, like if they enjoy their experience here, to spread the word. We have gone a step beyond that now and are giving you an incentive to do so, if being a helpful contributor is not reason enough.

If you insist on taking without contributing, and want free donor points as well, I suggest you refer a wealthy friend. ;)

Everyone is inherently selfish, but it is the pursuit of our own goals within the confines of the greater good that helps create a community - and even a world - worth living in.

Use the referral link in your Account Control panel. When the person goes to that link and then registers, you get a referral.

While reading the news I was quite sceptic.
However, as earlier stated, the devs weren't born yesterday and as long as there's code in place to keep people away who try to exploit this system I fully support it and hope it will bring joy, not only to our community but to other gamers as well.
Hope you're logging IPs as well as playtime. 5 accounts created within 10 minutes from one IP might just be an attempt to exploit. ;-)

Great job so far, keep it up!
A bug? No, that's not a bug. It's a god damn feature!

Skeptic? Would it even matter if someone spoofed accounts..This idea takes a CRAP LOAD of referrals and votes from the referral to even accumulate any vote points ..and after all it's just vote points Oo...And the donation points are just plain fail..have your friend spend 100$ and get 10$, maybe once you get them to spend 350$ you'll have enough to get that much sought after shadowmourne  This is my opinion and I'm entitled to it, If you don't like it then go kick rocks.

This is pretty cool, I'm not exactly in a position to afford donor points at this time but maybe I can network a few sign ups. I don't know if I can or not but it's nice to know I have this as an alternative option.

Also it will help the server grow some, it's got a decent population now but we could use a few more players.

thanks!

Re: Referral Program

is it possible to refer 2 people and get 10% of vote/donor points from them? which will result in 20 donor points if both donate 100$. or will it be 10% from ur first referal then 7% from the second and so forth?

cause i noticed that u get 7% from ur referals first referal, vil i also get 7% from my referals second referal too?

if so, whats the limit of ur referals and ur refarals refarals as in refarals that are refered by ur referals. i know that the points u get from ur refrals referals stop at 5 referals but how many "five" referals can u maximumly get?

so can u have endlessly with refered friends aslong as u refer them?

You get 10% from anybody you refer.

You get 7% from anybody that your referrals refer.

And so on.
