Denial of Service attacks are someone sending so many requests to a server that the server cannot handle them and any normal request that you send is either denied completely or very slow.

Ok, thanks for explaining it to me. I knew something was fucked up when I couldn't access the site at all last night; damned near killed my computer out of frustration
