Not likely, according to TS tech support it uses andom outgoing ports, and the port for the server makes no difference, the port the server uses has little to no bearing on what outgoing port I use

also I can connect to other servers without issue. including others that use 4000 as the port

but to be on the safe side I double checked, I didn't see anything using port 4000

to be extra sure I shutdown my firewall AV, all other programs, including several system services,

I then disconnected my router and pugged directly into the cable modem

In short its about as close to "nothing else running" as I can get without going into safe mode

Same issue

I've now spent a total of 3 hours trying to trouble shoot this with TS tech support, between help on the forums and the IRC support. Everyone tells me the same

there is no way at this point, that this can be on my end
it's either something on the route between us, or on the server side

My efforts continue to fail
I can still ping the TS server
I can still tracert to the server
I still can't connect, I'm at a total loss for idea's now

What operating system do you use, what version of TeamSpeak are you running, and have you tried un-installing it and wiping all files, searching for them that means, and re-installing it? Sometimes things just go weird in weird places...

yes I have
windows 7 ultimate 64-bit
TS 3.0 Beta build 12815

I uninstalled first with revo uninstaller pro, which grabbed most everything except the config folder, which I deleted myself, and then went through the REg by hand, but Revo had in fact gotten it all first time around.

as said I did go over much of this with the support offered by teamspeak in their IRC, and forums, their premium support is mainly for servers.

I can connect to Any TS server anywhere, name one, i'll connect to it.

I also set up a serve,r on a different machine and connected to it with no problem

had friends in the UK set one up
connected no problem

TS test server, connect no problem

For sake of completeness I set up a linux box, and threw TS on there real quick, Still could connect to everyone except eternal-wow.

I'm not trying to sound like a know it all, But I've been working in the networking field in various positions for almost 25 years now, I've been through TeamSpeaks support, and I've tried to troubleshoot this every which way from Sunday. I really can't see any way for this problem to be on my end at this point.

I can ping the server
I can traceroute to it
it's there I can see it I can touch it
but the TS client will not connect, it resolves, but doesn't connect.

the time frame is the same each time, exactly 6 seconds from attempted connection to Error

three times I have connected to the server, on all three occasions I had changed NO settings, I was simply re-trying my connection attempt, but it has not been a re-producible situation.

retrying immediately, or retying after several minutes seems to make no difference
but with the same exact settings, I have connected three times, but that is three times out of over two hundred attempts.

my theories at the moment are that I'm somehow part of a blocked IP-list being used by the server or it's firewall. I might have thought it was DNS related, but as said it seems to be resolving properly.

the traceroute doesn't show any surprising jumps in latency or anything of that nature.
