Was just going to make some edits as most of these guilds have collapsed by now (late May).
Keep in mind that all of this is from a Hordie's perspective.

To my knowledge, the 2 main Horde guilds are"
Quantum
Army of Darkness
------------------------
These guilds are also Horde, but are smaller/more private:
Ghost Opera
FTA
Chuck Norris Fan Club
... Followed by a plethora of personal bank guilds...
*The formerly-active and large guilds <Skyward> and <Crayon Taste Like Purple> have essentially completely dissolved.

On the Alliance, the most active guild out there right now would have to be <Immortals>. They also have the farthest progression in the faction [like <Quantum> for the Horde].
<Saving Private Teemo> was excelling it seemed until 10 or so of their core raiders got into ban troubles, and majority of them left the realm.
There is also a new guild called <The Ninth Order> led by an old friend of mine that is growing rapidly and seems to be progressing nicely.

Other notable Alliance guilds I have noticed but do not know much about are:
<Fusion>



Again, this is just some insight for newcomers looking for spots to settle.
