Exile Updates

A few things were done this weekend to improve the quality of realm life on Exile:

  • The corpse reclaim delay has been removed
  • Faction-specific Port Men have been buffed in health and damage
  • Credit drops from guards and Port Men have been reduced
  • New faction-specific support vehicles have been added to PvP Island. These vehicles follow the "Glass cannon" rule in that they are very easy to kill, but are capable of very powerful buffs to teams able to keep them alive. This adds a new level of strategy to the PvP playing field that I believe will ultimately make things more interesting. I took heart to the advice I was given by Exilians to not introduce siege weapons with one-shot-kill spells as these take no skill. Now skill is required.

I spent a lot of the day with players on Exile testing and tweaking, but if you have additional suggestions, post them in our Exile forum.

I wanted to take some additional forum space to discuss what else was being planned with the realm. Here are a few cliff notes to whet your whistles:

  • City bosses are well underway and testing will commence in approximately 1-2 weeks. The bosses are made to be challenging for a 10-man group and will provide a substantial amount of loot to entice their annihilation, which in turn will lure more players to the cities themselves. Though not final, it is expected for the bosses to drop a few hundred Exile Credits, a handful of Eternal Shards of Victory, Emblems of Frost, possibly some other type of loot, and a quest item that will buff the player for approximately 1-2 hours. Potential buffs include the ICC buff - Hellscream's Warsong or Strength of Wrynn.
  • Soon there will be no need for honor, as all of the important end-game materials and gear will require Credits. I'm working to "rebuild" the trainers on the Eternal realm to include important reagents that cost Credits in order to emphasize their need even more, and as a way to prevent players from having a full stack of 2000 without the need for spending them.
  • The custom cities are going to be re-worked to implement some simple but effective features to liven them up and encourage the cross-faction war.
  • If the support vehicles are popular, I will likely implement a control panel of some kind that will allow players to purchase more powerful vehicles at the cost of credits, and in different capacities that could extend into the custom cities rather than just with PvP Island. Depending on feedback, this may be implemented as an event that happens occasionally, and may not cost any credits to choose your favorite type of vehicle.
  • Though early in development, I will try to incorporate directions on the city guards to aid new players.
  • In order to supplement the lack of PvE on the server, I will try to find something aimed at the heart of Exile, such as a way to summon and fight creatures in a coliseum-like atmosphere that give reputation upon their death.
  • The Killstreak system recently added to Remorse will be modified and added to Exile.

These are just a few of the things I have on my list that I've been writing after speaking to players on Exile. If you have any additional suggestions, I would like to hear and see the overall opinion of them, so toss them up as polls on the Exile forums for others to vote on.
