So yeah, I accidentally opened retail WoW and it started to download the new patch. I closed it immediately but now when I open Eternal WoW I get an error. Uploaded a pic with the error message for ya all to see. I read other threads about this problem which say I have to reinstall WoW to get it back to 4.0.6. Is that true? I'd rather not spend hours to do that when there might be a quick fix to it. Any help would be great.

Download this:

That's the pre-patched WoW.exe

Replace the Wow.exe in your game folder with that.

I am NOT sure if it works with 4.3.0, I hope it does.

Hmm well last time I helped out in inquiries such as these, there was NO 4.3.0 patch yet.
That is why I cannot say for certain if the patch is compatible or not.

How about this:

Open your game folder and look for a file called REPAIR.EXE then run that and see if it fixes the client.

Oh crikey...

Were you opening it with "Eternal-wow.exe" (that's what the file name shows).

Did you rename it or overwrote the wrong one?


How about just the Wow.exe (from the pre-patched file that I linked).

After overwriting your pre-patched .exe with that, can you try opening just the "Wow.exe" file?

Dear Cataclysm users,

Do NOT and I mean NOT update to patch 4.3.2, this patch will disable your way of connecting to the Eternal-WoW Ruin and Damnation cataclysm realms at all!

People who have already applied this update will have to wait for a hotfix for this, we apologize for the inconvenience.

A quickfix made by another player who experienced this says:

THIS IS ONLY IN THE EVENT THAT YOU HAVE ALREADY PATCHED UP to 4.3.2. DO NOT DO THIS if you aren't patched to 4.3.2!!!
This will prevent you from having to re-download your whole WoW installation. I'm currently running 4.2.3 HERE on Eternal by using this method, though it tricks WoW into believing it is an earlier version (you can play back to 4.0.6 with this "fix").

First,download the Launcher.

Step two,go to your World of Warcraft folder and find the WoW.mfil file: Open it with a text editor aaaand:

Step three, replace ANYTHING in there with:

version=2
server=akamai
location=http://ak.worldofwarcraft.com.edgesuite.net/wow-pod-retail/NA/12911.streaming/
manifest_partial=wow-14480-99E16DD385D9319AF72689626F6C9842.mfil

Step four,go to your "WTF" folder and open Config.wtf

Step five,go to the end of the file and add this line:

SET BGLoadThrottle "0"

Step six, change your realmlist to the proper one for E.W.

Last step,Go to your WoW/Data and delete alternate.MPQ and alternate.mpq.lock

Now enter with the launcher,it will take a while to load yada yada yada,some spells/items ingame will take a while to load(cache) but after they are successfully cached,they will load the info instantly next time.(the next time(s) you'll login).

This is NOT recommended,I'd say download the 4.0.6 client until I find a PROPER way to fix this.

The error is being caused because you patched yourself to 4.3.2, we're still working on a way to get those players to connect properly, but as to this moment players with the latest retail patch are unable to get in the game.

That patch way -could- work, I haven't personally tested it but the best way would be to get a fresh and new 4.0.6a copy.
