Thing is i went to play retail then the patcher showed up i think that updated it

Yes, you have to downgrade to 4.0.6a to play here. If you are downloading the game from this site, follow method 1 or 2, method 3 is not working anymore.

How do you downgrade the game?
Did you reinstall the game from scratch?

I'd recommend having two separate clients, saved in different locations. A 4.0.6 & up to date retail client (given if you plan on playing it) so you can switch between the two, without having to downgrade then upgrade and visa versa.
